If you are comfortable with bicycle mechanics, you can install most motors yourself (except for certain Bosch/Shimano models, which require a diagnostic kit for activation). However, to ensure that the GPS tracker is concealed as well as possible and to avoid damaging the e-bike's connectors, we recommend having it installed by a bicycle mechanic.
The QR code can be found inside the box of your Trackap products. If you do not have it, please request it by email at: contact@trackap.com, specifying the identifier of your tracker.
To pair your tracker with your application, go to the main page. A button with a + will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click on it, then scan the QR code or enter the data (tracker ID and secret code) manually.

- For Bosch (Gen 4 / Smart System) & Shimano: Installation generally requires the activation of a specific power port, which requires a tool reserved for certified professionals. We therefore recommend that you consult a bicycle mechanic.
- For Bafang & Yamaha: Connection is usually "Plug & Play." You will find all our detailed instructions and installation videos in our Instructions - Understanding Installation section.

The tracker's power consumption is minimal.
- Bafang/Yamaha motors: The tracker is continuously powered.
- Bosch motors: The tracker recharges when the bike is turned on. When stationary, its internal battery takes over to ensure the bike's geolocation for several days/weeks depending on usage, without impacting the range of your main battery during your rides.
Your tracker may display 0V when it has not yet been initialized, when it is improperly connected, or in the case of Bosch motors, when the bike is switched off.
The tracker uses a SIM card to send GPS data. The subscription covers the network costs and ensures the continuity and quality of our services.
Renewal is done directly in the Trackap app. Go to your bike details, then click on "Renew my Subscription." Payment is secured by our partner STRIPE. We do not store any banking information.
Subscription payments are processed through our partner STRIPE. All transactions are secured, and we do not receive or store any of your banking details.
Vehicle maintenance is based on the mileage calculated by our trackers, as well as any calendar or mileage milestones you have previously defined.
If your bike is stolen, immediately activate "Theft Mode" via the app. This generates a unique code to be given to law enforcement. This code gives them access to a dedicated interface (https://police.trackap.com/) to track the vehicle's movements in real time and facilitate its recovery. Note: This button does not automatically contact the police; you must file a report.
Installing a GPS tracker for your electric bike is the best protection against theft. Unlike a simple mechanical lock, the Trackap tracker allows you to geolocate your bike in real time via our app, receive alerts of suspicious movement, and facilitate searches by law enforcement in the event of theft. It is an essential addition to secure your investment.
We advise you to always park your bicycles indoors (garage, bicycle room, etc.) and always lock them. Most thefts occur inside private buildings.
We advise you to disconnect the battery and avoid exposing it to freezing temperatures to prevent deep discharge, which can damage the lithium-ion cells.

Generally, the most resistant locks are U-locks. However, we recommend (especially in large cities) using several locks of different types when leaving your bike outside for an extended period. For example, a U-lock and a large chain, or a U-lock and a folding lock.
Of course, the tracker complements traditional locks but does not replace them.
We always recommend having trackers installed by professionals, especially since they are installed on sensitive parts of the bike. If you are used to maintaining your bike, you can still install it yourself, but in any case, installation on a Shimano, Bosch Gen4, or Bosch SmartSystem motor will always require professional assistance to activate the power ports.
